The LWD (Ladies Who Dine) had its first ever brunch this past Saturday. Our stop? The voguish and quaint Santa Monica locale, The Misfit Bar. With the ever-present 405 traffic, it took about an hour to get there. But, dressed in an array of orange (in honor of bottomless mimosas), we arrived – pleased with the convenient parking, the classic ambience, and convivial wait staff. Open at 11:00, the Misfit offers a motley selection of brunch items along with its daily lunch menu. A great time was enjoyed by all, I dare say. I plan to return soon. Maybe even next weekend. We’ll see.
Classically contemporary, if there is such a thing.
I loved our tucked-away little booth.
We arrived during Happy Hour (who knew it started so early on Saturdays?), which meant half-priced cocktails. So for only three and a half bucks, I had to try the sangria. It did not disappoint.
I don’t know what the official name of this dish is, but it kicked a$$.
Served with almond butter and preserves, this is probably the best croissant I’ve ever had. And that’s saying a lot – I’m a croissanteur (a made-up word for someone who has eaten a lot of croissants in her lifetime).
The green chiles make this dish a winner. How does it compare to my beloved Smac and Cheese at Nickel Diner? Don’t know… pretty close.
Served with berries and creme fresh – these were scintillating.
Not my dish, but it sure looked tasty.
These were awesome, delicious, and wonderful – served with ranchero sauce and salsa verde. Too bad my belly was already full by the time they arrived.
The “Mushroom” ordered the mushroom omelet. I sampled it since she was sitting right next to me. Pretty darn good.
Keep ’em coming!
Most of the ladies didn’t dig the sea salt on the cookies, but I found them delightful!
The beach is two blocks down – great for a sobering stroll.
Checking out what we’re missing in the LBC – waves!
Our first LWD baby.
Orange-y Beach Babes.
A big hug for a restaurant well selected!
I didn’t want to leave, but my ride said we had to go.
