I’m in the midst of a little personal spring cleaning right now (also known as dieting), which means I don’t have anything sexy to post… food-wise (my husband discourages other types of sexy posts). But that doesn’t mean I can’t reach back in the archives and share some of my most cherished bites; my most unforgettable experiences. It’s been quite a tasty ride since the launch of the Ladies Who Dine restaurant club, responsible for pushing me out of the picky eater closet. Though I return inside from time to time (like if I see bananas or tunafish), it’s nice being out and free, my tastebuds coming into their own. Here’s what they have to say:
Dish that made me a believer in roasted vegetables.
I only tried Simmzy’s brussels sprouts (akin to me of something you’d have to eat on Fear Factor) because I was coerced. If the roasting process could make me enjoy sprouts, the possibilities are endless.
What I’ll drink when I move to a galaxy far, far away.
Little Goat’s Yoda Juice was a wise and out-of-this-world choice.
Dish that could turn me vegan… if I ate this and nothing else.
The vegan chili-cheese fries at Nickel Diner.
Place that could get me to buy a condo in downtown Long Beach.
I’d love to kick it Norm-style at Bo-Beau so I could stuff my face, drink a couple-few cocktails, and walk half a block home.
Dish that might get me signed up for the next police academy.
Bestia’s coffee & doughnuts dessert was arresting.
Dish that convinced me salad was the new pizza.
Before trying Baco Mercat’s Caesar brussel sprouts salad, I hated the idea of a warm salad. Now I know – hot or cold, it’s all good.
Breakfast item that could get me on a plane to Portland tonight (if my kid didn’t have ballet class).
The crunchy french toast from Mother’s Bistro & Bar is the only way you’ll get me to eat cornflakes (the source of the crunch).
The sumptuous ol’ ball & chain.
I love the enchiladas suizas plate at Los Compadres so much that I should marry it. We’ve been together for five years now and she’s yet to disappoint.
