Let’s take things back to a simpler time, when our president was still sane and Donald Trump was just that terrible man who, somehow, seemed to be leading the Republican nomination race. I didn’t post back then about our LWD outing to Saint & Second, but the memory of it remains relatively vivid. The gathering was small – just three of us able to make it to the 2nd Street locale once home to Lucille’s BBQ (which closed after another Lucille’s opened up less than a mile away on 2nd & PCH). Saint had been on my list for months, friends raving about their Mac and ‘Shrooms (all aware of my macaroni and cheese love/obsession/lust) and the place’s general coolness, easily a new Belmont Shore staple.
Being three, we were easy to please, agreeable to glasses of wine, appetizers, variety in our main dishes and, yep, dessert. I must’ve been in the mood for corn that evening, going for both their corn bisque and Saint’s chicken and corn flatbread. To do so only made sense on a late summer evening, me in want of something light and flavorful. Great choice for me. And yes, I had to give the ol’ mac ‘n cheese a try, a gooey and rich delight that works well if you’re in the mood for sharing. My companions for the evening, Lady Thick Leg and Lady Burps-a-lot, each went for burgers, which they described as juicy and satisfying.
To fully end the night, we asked to see the dessert menu (as any lady should) and ordered their signature “donuts and coffee”, my favorite taste of the meal – chocolate and apple fritter donut bread pudding served with ice cream. Who wouldn’t fall in love? I imagine a late night trip back to Saint for a post club/date/girls-night-out treat in my future. Of course, that would require a club, a date, or a girls night out, difficult to do when this old lady likes to be in the bed watching telly by 10:00.
Or I can just do lunch or dinner like a normal person. Either way, it will be a yummy time my next visit to Saint & Second.

One thing I love about this blog? You make life’s simple stuff, umm, a chili dog, into a orgasmic experience. You are a trip, dianderthal! It is as if I’m sitting with this there w you, and you make everything an “11”! Cause this one goes to 11. And I love the self deprecating humor! Weekly girlfriend, weekly!
